Capitol Building Austin Texas

I have been wanting to do a shot of the Capitol Building in Austin, so last weekend when I was shooting out in the Hill Country, I drove back to Austin one night to do it.

I wanted to shoot it at night so I could capture the lighting and isolate it from all the other structures and everything else, plus I find night shots of structures just generally interesting.  This was shot at about 11:30PM and there were surprisingly few people around which was great, plus I was able to get a fairly close parking spot so I didn’t have to walk far.

In the foreground you can see through the skylights of part of the underground Capitol Extension which is actually 4 stories under the ground that is 667,000 square feet!
